We were entrusted by Speed International, the leading photo services provider in Northern Europe, with reimaging the photobooth experience for the next generation of tech-enabled users. We created a new visual identity, blending photographic precision with playfulness, introduced a modular design system, making it easier for the company to keep visual consistency across all their services and platforms, and introduced two new features: photo editing room & mobile printing.
/Brief
Speed Photo was looking to freshen their brand identity and connect with a new gen Z audience. We helped them reimagine the photobooth as a social hub and playground for creativity, a place where memories are made and turned into cherished keepsakes.
/Contribution
Working closely with the UX Design Director, I helped define the new visual identity, streamlined user flows, created reusable design components, animated all interactions and wrote relevant annotations to facilitate hand-off to engineering.
End-to-end user flow which I designed and prototyped
/Outcome
🟣
Developed a brand identity and design system with 30+ components
📍
Rolled out final design to 300 photobooth locations across Northern Europe
Streamlined end-to-end user flows, facilitating integration of 2 new features
I left Stockholm before the project went live, so here is a video taken by my friend Lana a few weeks later at Stockholm Central Station
/Learnings
1️⃣ First time building an Atomic Design System from scratch
2️⃣ Importance of designing for accessibility especially when building a product with a very wide audience
3️⃣ Formatting Figma files for smooth engineering handoff
